Where was security?

Everybody Loves Raymond? Well, apparently the Obamas do. Raymond, Raymond, Raymond...my god you're awful. Ray Romano graced the stage at the Neighborhood Inaugural Ball. Once he attempted a MIL joke it snowballed from there. It was so awful that I begged Cliff to turn to the channel.

Watch if you dare...

Favorite Snack & A Patch Of Blue

So it's still winter and my favorite snack is a pricey one.  Bing cherries & blackberries.  They were both on sale last week so I thought, what the hell?  Hmmm, so good.  I wish we had more space so I could add more fruit to the garden.

On to the movie!  Last night I saw A Patch of Blue.  I've always wanted to see this movie but I never catch it on.  It wasn't disappointing.  I'm so glad I got to see it.  All the actors were suburb.  Of course I love Sidney Poitier and Shelley Winters, but I was impressed with Elizabeth Hartman as well.  What a great movie.

Usually I am not very impressed with 1960 - 70 movies.  I happen to catch some Dick Van Dyke movies..ugh, thank goodness he redeemed himself with Mary Poppins.

Kim, 1950 Movie

I've been sick with a cold/flu bug for the past few days so last night I watched, Kim (Kipling's tale) on TCM. First off I didn't think I would enjoy it and I'm not sure I did. I was too busy blowing my nose and gasping breath from my mouth. The remote was across the room but I had an old remote that would mute. Yes, I was that lazy. I must have found it a little bit captivating because I stayed up for all of it and I never hit the mute.

So Kim is a young boy living on his own on the streets of India. He is actually the son of a deceased British officer, but often runs around as an Indian child. He meets a holy man that he devotes himself to but when his true identity is found out they want him to start attending school which doesn't appeal to him. Meanwhile his friend, The Red Beard, (Errol Flynn) has him working as a spy for the British, which as you can guess is rather exciting & dangerous.

The conflicting influences in his life were interesting. The holy man teaching him compassion & kindness & then the spy life where violence was a norm. Anyway its a good movie if you have a fever & can't find the remote.
