Last night I watched the 1945, "The Enchanted Cottage" starring Dorothy Maguire and Robert Young. After reading about this "touching love story" I was excited to be able to finally watch it because I understand that TCM doesn't play it much.
Well, I didn't like it.
Two people meet, one disfigured & one "homely" at an Enchanted Cottage. Yes, there's more to that story but not much. I guess I needed more depth into the characters to fall in love with the story. It's a very basic story line that you can pretty much guess the ending within the first 10 minutes. Dorothy Maguire's "homely" character needed only tweezers to pluck those unruly, darkened brows to showcase her pretty chiseled features.
Something about the story felt unsettling and no, it wasn't because the screen wasn't filled with glamorous people. It didn't have a good flow.
