Wow! I watched All About Eve a couple days ago for the first time and I loved it! I had read that Ingrid Bergman was an actress considered for the part of Margo Channing. Although Ingrid is one of my favorites, I really believe that nobody could play this part as well as Bette Davis did. She was once again magnificent, but I don't think I've ever seen a Davis performance that I didn't like.
All About Eve is amazing of course because of the selection of people: Bette Davis, Anne Baxter, Marilyn Monroe, and Thelma Ritter ... (Love Birdie!!), but the script is what truly makes this movie a classic. It is so well written. Intelligent, humorous and some of the best lines that are floating around out there. Fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy night! I was aware of the line before I ever saw the movie. If you enjoy the classics, then you've probably already seen this but if you haven't, do! It's a great one.
All About Eve won 6 Oscars and won another 14 various awards.
