A couple weeks ago while making tuna salad I sliced my middle finger as I unscrewed the lid to a fresh jar of mayonnaise.
The freshness seal had a thick tab that sliced right into my finger as I turned the lid. It was a large gash and as soon as it happened I was almost afraid I would need stitches by the amount of blood. It's clearly a design flaw as I do know how to open a jar, but you wouldn't know it from the way the company responded. My mother had convinced me it was best to contact the company so they could look into things. After a awkward phone call and letter saying they were sorry I got hurt, I'm still convinced they think I am completely at fault for slicing my own finger. I can understand perhaps they would rather think I am unable to open a jar correctly, than their product possibly being both a weapon and a tasty condiment.
At any rate the wound has healed and today in the mail we found several Mayo coupons so I guess we'll be stocking up on artillery.
Be careful opening those jars!!
