Midnight (1939)

Claudette Colbert plays a chorus girl (Eve Peabody) that arrives in Paris with nothing except the gown on her back. Yes, I said gown, which works out really well for her. Eve Peabody has high hopes of wealth and recognition as she sets out to find a singing job. Don Ameche plays the quick witted taxi driver (Tibor Czerny) who falls for her and offers her a place to go, but Eve Peabody has big dreams. As much as she likes Tibor Czerny, her future doesn't include being a taxi drivers wife, so she runs from his taxi when he has stopped for gas.

Luck has it that there is a swanky party being held not far from there so Eve Peabody sneaks in and there the wonderful John Barrymore (Georges Flammarion) awaits with some hilarious facial expressions. I have to admit that the movie is good, but it becomes even better once Barrymore enters the picture. Barrymore's character Georges Flammarion propositions Eve Peabody to flirt with Jacques Picot. Jacques Picot is the man that Georges Flammarion's wife is having an affair with. Did you get all that? So then the fun begins as Eve Peabody is suddenly playing the role as Baroness Czerny. Then the movie becomes even better when Tibor Czerny comes back into the picture to reclaim his "wife".

I really loved Midnight. Some scenes are lol and you can't help but fall in love with Claudette Colbert, Don Ameche, and John Barrymore. What a great bunch of people to play these characters. It really is a must see movie if you enjoy romantic comedies.
