The people at Smoke Free Movies must freak out every time Paper Moon is played. I'm not sure how many other movies are out there where the nine year old character, Addie Loggins (Tatum O'Neal) is lighting up throughout the film. If it's ever dubbed it will be a shame since it's such a part of her tough, but adorable, character.
Cinematography of this movie is great. It's been said that Orson Welles was a close friend of director Peter Bogdanovich, and did some consulting on the cinematography. Whoever decided to shoot the movie in black and white photography through a red filter really knew how to make the images pop despite it being 1973 and the audience was probably expecting color. Had this movie been made in color it most certainly would have lost much of its appeal. That said, the lines were good, story is entertaining and the choice of actors couldn't get better.
It's a great movie that should be watched. I'm not sure if I was just not in the mood but watching last weekend was a ho-hum experience. Maybe I've seen it too much? I was annoyed by the dialog and saw it for the first time as too much bickering. Like I said, maybe I was just in the wrong mood for this movie. Paper Moon is still one of my favorites that I would add to my collection.
